Tennessee Frontier Records up to 1850
J. Mark Lowe, CG
Learn about the wonderful records that exist for genealogists researching Tennessee history and genealogy. J. Mark Lowe
researches primarily in original records and manuscripts throughout the Southeast specializing in Kentucky and Tennessee
genealogical research. His background includes classroom instruction, database management, and computer programming.
An Overview of the Archives of Tennessee: State and County Levels
Wayne Moore, PhD, Chairman and State Historical Records Coordinator, Assistant State Archivist, Tennessee State Library and Archives
Dr. Moore will present an overview of Tennessee's archival resources for genealogical research, discussing archival resources at
both the state and county levels. This information can be very helpful to both you and to your researchers.
Electronic Records Archives (ERA) Building the Archives of the Future
David Rencher, AG, CG, FIGRS, FUGA
This session will update genealogists on the progress that has been made toward ensuring preservation and access to the nation's
federal records by creating the first-ever electronic storage archive to handle government records from over 130 agencies and the
presidential administrations. David E. Rencher is employed by FamilySearch as its Chief Genealogical Officer. He also interfaces
with The National Archives and Records Administration on behalf of FGS.
The McClung Historical Collection: A Resource for Researchers
Steven Cotham, Manager, McClung Historical Collection, Knox County Public Library
The Calvin M. McClung Historical Collection is the local history and
genealogy department of the Knox County Public Library System. Please join us for a tour of the McClung Historical Collection
after Steve's session and enjoy highlights of this well-known research collection with extended research hours. It is one of
the foremost collections of East Tennessee history and one of the premier research libraries in the region.
The Librarians Day morning sessions and lunch will be held at the Hilton Knoxville. The afternoon
sessions will be held at the East Tennessee Historical Society (ETHS), a short walk from the Knoxville Hilton. The McClung
Historical Collection is housed at the ETHS.
Lunch is sponsored by ProQuest and will provide opportunities to network with your colleagues, meet new
people, share experiences, ideas, and information. A sneak peak into some of the great resources offered by ProQuest is always a special
treat for the attendees, and this year will be no different. These presentations have included information about new and exciting products,
and have always been entertaining.
