Membership Benefits

Why Join?

FGS Member Societies include genealogical societies, historical societies, and family associations, and they enjoy these benefits:

  • Bylaws Review — Strengthen the foundation of your organization by allowing our team of experts to review your organization's bylaws to identify areas in need of improvement and to provide solutions.
  • Newsletter Review — Newsletters are a tried and true way of communicating with your members. However, with fast-paced changes in technology, much has changed about newsletters. Allow our team of newsletter reviewers to assess your society's newsletter and to provide tips to improve your newsletter and its effectiveness for your society and its purpose.
  • Website Review — Your website might be the first encounter a potential member has with your society, and for certain, it is the hub of information and benefits for your current members and the genealogical community as a whole. Our team of website of reviewers will thoroughly analyze your website and give you feedback to make your society website the best it can be.
  • Obtain maximum exposure for your society's educational events (including webinars) by submitting them to be added to the FGS Event Calendar which is consistently promoted to thousands of people across the U.S. and around the world by FGS via email and social media.
  • Position your organization by updating your FGS Member Network Listing where thousands of family history enthusiasts searching for resources to help them with their family history journey can easily find your society online and the resources you provide (like online databases, publications, local research tips and guides, eduational programs, indexing projects with volunteer opportunities, research help, etc.). The FGS Member Network Listing is also consistently promoted by FGS via email and social media.
