Federation Member Societies/FGS Society Hall. More than 500 societies are members of FGS. Use this link to Society Hall for additional information about these organizations.
The Ruth C. Bishop Family History Volunteer Hall of Honor recognizes outstanding volunteers from the genealogical community. The winner will have his/her expenses covered to attend the annual FGS Conference. The nominating society will receive a $1000 cash award.
Federation Conferences. The Federation sponsors a national conference each year for genealogists of all levels of experience. The conferences spotlight: management workshops for organizational leadership training, genealogical lectures by nationally recognized speakers and regional experts and exhibitors providing access to genealogical materials and supplies. Search our genealogical conference index.
Records Preservation and Access. FGS Records Preservation and Access Committee advises the genealogical community on ensuring proper access to vital records, on means to affect legislation, and on supporting strong records preservation policies and practices.
Stern-NARA Gift Fund. This fund is a nationally supported program to finance the creation of finding aids and the microfilming of valuable research materials now preserved in the National Archives and Records Administration in Washington, D.C.
Society Strategy Series consists of papers that offer suggestions and instructions for innovative and effective management for genealogical and historical societies.
