RG 108. MOHAVE COUNTY
Mohave County was one of the four original counties created in Arizona
Territory, 1864. Named after the Mohave Indians, it was the second county
created by the Territorial Legislature. Hardyville was the first county seat,
then Mineral Park until 1887 when the seat was moved to Kingman where it has
remained.
SG 1. Assessor.
Assessment roll. 1905. (1 volume)
The roll is an indexed, delinquent assessment list. It shows taxes levied on
people, businesses and organizations. Arranged alphabetically.
SG 3. Coroner.
Inquests. 1893- 1935. (2 boxes)
Inquests include cause of death statements and coroners jury records.

SG 6 Sheriff.
Financial records. 1899-1965. (23 volumes)
Volumes include cashbooks, fee books and receipt books, some prisoner records
such as prisoner meal and time books and a prisoner register, 1889-1916. One
volume is a scrapbook containing clippings, summons, sales and creditor notices
from the years 1904-1915.
SG 8. Superior Court.
Clerk of the Court. 1866-1941. (2 boxes, 4 volumes and 1 roll of
microfilm)
Records include register of actions, 1885-1951; Commission minutes,
1877-1880; indexed judgements, judgment roll and dockets, 1866-1897; and
judgment docket indexes, 1885-1918. The register of actions, 1885-1951, is
indexed. The Mohave County Courthouse and Jail Commission minutes, 1877-1880,
was authorized to issue bonds for the construction of a courthouse and jail at
the county seat. Treasurers accounts for bonds and expenses are also listed.
Civil Division. 1867-1954. (15 boxes)
Records include civil cases, 1867-1912. There are three types of marriage
records: marriage affidavits, a marriage register that is indexed by both names
and a record of marriage licenses and certificates. Superior Court civil and
probate cases appealed to the higher court include all papers to document cases
that were sent to the Arizona Supreme Court, 1923-1954.
Criminal Division. 1880-1912. (2 boxes)
Records consist of case files, 1880-1912, arranged chronologically.
Probate Division. 1865-1951. (4 boxes and 7 volumes)
Records include an estate register, 1913-1922. The minutes of the Probate
Court, 1865-1915, open with the first meeting. Probate letters of
administration, 1877-1921, appoint persons in the matters of the administration
of the estate of and oaths to perform the duties of executor. There are also
files of guardianship, 1885-1951, and guardianship cases, 1906-1951.
